We sympathetically converted Walnut Barn’s beautiful 16^th century, three-bay, timber-framed Sussex hay barn and stables into luxury accommodation in 2000. The original impressive oak frame is on display throughout, with solid oak floors, flagstone halls and a wide centre staircase leading to a  minstrels’ galleried landing, with full-width picture windows. Quality furnishings, heavy drapes, bedspreads, Persian and Turkish rugs give an atmosphere of luxury.

Laid out over three floors are three bedrooms with king-size double beds and one with twin beds. All our beds have the finest, crisp, white Egyptian cotton linen, duck and down feather duvets and pillows, but we can provide hypoallergenic replacements if requested.  We provide fluffy white bath and hand towels and towelling robes to heighten your enjoyment of the quality bathroom facilities.

The Stables – ground floor twin with en suite

has easy access with just a couple of steps. This large, airy room looks onto the courtyard garden and walnut tree. The en suite has feature roll-top bath, separate walk in shower, WC and basin.

Master bedroom – king-size double

on the first floor off the minstrels’ gallery, is a splendid, light and airy triple-aspect room with vaulted ceiling, showing the full height of the timber frame.  The bathroom opposite includes feature roll-top bath, separate walk-in shower, WC and basin.

The Pineapple room – king-size double

on the first floor opposite the master bedroom, the Pineapple room is a delightful room with interesting ceiling and oak frame features, overlooking the courtyard garden.

The Top room – king-size double

a charming room accessed via its own oak staircase.

Third bathroom

on the ground floor includes bath, separate walk-in shower, WC and basin.

Kitchen

The large dining table at the centre of the farmhouse style kitchen is perfect for entertaining family and friends.  Solid oak cupboards, worktops and free standing units are well stocked with quality crockery, cutlery and glassware, and all the pots, pans and utensils you would expect to find in your own kitchen.

Britannia range cooker with halogen hobs and double oven, American style fridge/freezer with ice & water dispenser, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine & tumble dryer, iron & ironing board.

Sitting room

The log-burning stove provides a cosy atmosphere, whilst you sit in comfort and enjoy a movie on the flat screen TV with SKY, DVD player and surround sound system, read a book or listen to music on the hi-fi.

Outside space

You can sit, relax and enjoy the courtyard garden, outdoor dining on your own terrace furnished with quality teak furniture, cushions and parasol, whilst cooking your favourite dish on the barbecue and enjoying a glass of something refreshing.

A trampoline is available for children to bounce on and burn off excess energy!

Walnut Cottage is a former farm worker’s building dating back to the 17th century, timber framed with many beams on display, under a clay tile roof. This well equipped, beautifully furnished ground floor cottage has a couple of internal steps, two bedrooms, one king-size double with en suite WC and basin and one single, a kitchen, bathroom and sitting room.
